Gilded Scar Memoir seeks beautifully written true stories that examine the experiences that mark us. We want more than an account of what happened. We want the intelligence, contradiction, uncertainty, and emotional truth beneath it.

What we look for

• Literary memoir and personal essays with a distinct voice
• Work that interrogates memory rather than treating it as a perfect record
• Emotional honesty without forced redemption
• Reflection that deepens the event instead of merely explaining it
• Language and structure shaped with intention

We are not asking whether the wound became a lesson. We are asking what remains—and what the writer can see now that they could not see then.
